Dr. Larea Kwakye

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We just finished our second annual 5K Biscuit Run fundraiser—held for the very first time in Birmingham, Alabama. We chose to take a step of faith because we wanted to highlight a season of life that Ollie Mae Smith experienced.

Fifty years ago, her husband, the Rev. Robert Smith Sr., passed away. She became a single mother with five of her ten children still at home. We wanted to return to Birmingham to pray for the city and support its youth. Ollie Mae sacrificed everything for her children. She knew that children were the future, and in her unique situation—through no fault of her own—every decision she made was directed toward ensuring their well-being and development.

Single mothers and children who have lost their fathers in any capacity must adjust to a lifestyle that was never intended. This is why we believe that God has been, and continues to be, the answer to fill that gap. Ollie Mae would rise at 5 a.m. for prayer, faithfully covering her household. She continued this tradition for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until her passing in 2019.

This organization was born out of that same heart and spirit of keeping those values alive. We value family, and we especially value youth and those who are coming behind us. It is our shoulders that the next generation will stand on. They thrive when we coach and cultivate them through sowing and serving. We strive to be living examples—investing in their futures with both action and resources.

We are excited to share that we were able to distribute a $1,000 scholarship, a $500 scholarship, award scholarships to three schools in Ghana, and implement our OMS 6C Leadership program.

We are grateful for your giving. It is through your generosity alone that we can keep this good work going. We are now asking for monthly subscribers. You can sign up to give a monthly donation of $10 through our PayPal account. The link is below, along with photos from our recent run.

Over the past six years, we have distributed approximately $12,000 to 20 recipients—many of whom have since graduated and are now serving their communities. We hope that the legacy of our loved one can continue to bless your loved ones.

We are family, and we are excited and delighted to stay connected with you!
